Home-Based Caseworker (HBCW)
Position Overview
The Home-Based Caseworker (HBCW) provides goal-directed, home and community-based support services to children and families involved with the Indiana Department of Child Services (DCS) or Probation. The HBCW focuses on ensuring child safety, promoting family stability, and improving overall family functioning through direct intervention, education, and advocacy.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, or a related human services field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience working with children and families in a social service setting.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation with required insurance.
- Must pass all state-mandated background checks and drug screenings.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Engage families in their homes to assess needs and implement service plans.
- Teach parenting skills, household management, and effective communication.
- Coordinate with DCS Case Managers and other providers to ensure cohesive care.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all service activities and progress.
- Advocate for families and connect them with vital community resources.
Preferred Skills
- Strong crisis intervention and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of community resources in the Indianapolis area.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule including some evenings.
Father Engagement Specialist
Position Overview
The Father Engagement Specialist works specifically with biological and legal fathers involved in the child welfare system. This role is designed to break down barriers to paternal involvement, strengthen the father-child bond, and ensure that fathers are active, positive participants in their children's lives and the reunification process.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in human services (Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, etc.).
- Proven experience in community outreach or advocacy roles.
- Deep understanding of the unique challenges faced by fathers in the welfare system.
- Reliable vehicle and valid insurance.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Conduct outreach to locate and engage missing or uninvolved fathers.
- Provide one-on-one mentoring and support tailored to paternal needs.
- Facilitate fatherhood education groups and workshops.
- Assist fathers in navigating the DCS system and legal proceedings.
- Identify and mitigate barriers such as housing, employment, or transportation.
Preferred Skills
- Highly empathetic with strong interpersonal boundaries.
- Skilled in motivational interviewing and engagement techniques.
- Ability to work independently in field settings.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus.
